I got onto this page through Boat Bits.
This is a quick summary of the essential points when setting up and using a mast and rig and sails. Essential points
- Use Dacron only as the sail cloth. It lasts a really long time
- A self tacking staysail is a really good idea
- Make sure backstay tension is right so that the forestay is correctly tensioned when furling the jib.
- Make sure all chain plates are lined up with mast, and use toggles as necessary to get the right alignment.
- Norseman fittings are a really good idea also – can be replaced anywhere
