This is definitely not one of the best things I have seen on a new boat. The yard were really against it but the owner insisted.
He really liked the duck billed bow sprit, but the fore-stay attachment is at the rear end of the bow roller.
In order to brace the loads from the fore-stay it was necessary to construct a solid bob stay underneath. It would have made sense if the bow sprit was longer, but as it is it just looks a bit silly (not to mention the cost).
The yard made all the stainless steel fittings for it including the anchor rollers. Its really nice work, I am constantly amazed at what they are able to manufacture.
