It seems to be taking forever. I’m still stuck in the aft cabin fitting it out. Internal work is always slow. Its detailed and requires a lot of thought.
If I was working on boat building professionally I would have the experience of many previous boats to draw on, and so would already have figured out how to go about designing and constructing an aft cabin.
As it is, I have to sit and think long and hard about each step in the process. I am drawing on my previous experience in designing and building houses, and surprisingly my experiences in designing and implementing software.
The main principle I learned from house construction is to plan for finishing each job before you start. This way you work to avoid working yourself into tight corners where access is difficult and you cant get tools in to work effectively.
The main principle I learned from designing software is to avoid complexity. If your solution to a problem seems complex then its probably wrong. Take a step back, think laterally and try a different approach.
The aft cabin has been stripped for a final coat of paint before assembly. The half bulkheads have been taken out for final assembly with epoxy glue and screws.
Our workshop in the boat is the main cabin. It looks like total chaos, but it functions surprisingly well.
