Cut out the new hatch

Next we needed to make the cut out for the new deck hatch.  It is to be positioned on the roof of the cabin top rather on the foredeck.

Not quite so handy for getting sails in and out but I think it will work for that, and it leaves the foredeck clear for everything else.

We had to remove the entire front section of the cabin to give us a clean point to rebuild from.  Here the old hatch has been closed over with ply bedded in epoxy and the forward cabin top removed.

Also visible is the port side chock fixed to the inner edge of the hull.  The chocks act as a fixing points for the wave breaker, fill an otherwise awkward corner where debris and water would have collected, and finally will direct water caught by the wave breaker out the scuppers.
