The sullage tank is just about done. Its a very tight fit under the floor, but we wanted 50mm inlet pipes to avoid blockages. This would mean we would lose 50mm at the top of the tank if we just brought the pipes in as normal.
To maximise the tank volume we brought the inlet pipes into a box on the side of the tank. The pipes come into the box at 50mm, but the opening between the inlet box and the tank is a long slot only 25 mm high, so we only lose 25mm at the top of the tank.
The place for the sullage tank is at the lowest point of the boat right on the keel. Because it is the lowest point it is also the point where water will collect, right under the tank and not easy to completely remove.
To avoid the possibility of rot starting under the tank we have sealed it with glass matting soaked in epoxy.
The other place where moisture might be a problem is behind the shower. To seal up that area we also used epoxy soaked glass matting.
Around the boatyard
They are fixing up a big barge at the moment. Its been sand blasted and resprayed, nearly ready to go back in I think.
Our van is really paying off. Its great to have a place to stay overnight while working on the boat. Not that the yard is a particularly pretty place, it just beats driving back and forwards.
