I wonder if ….

The aft cabin is coming along nicely at last.  The back and front are on, and now the port side.

This is the time where I start to wonder … did I get it right??  Should it have been 2 inches higher to give more head room inside??  Was it the right choice to make the forward bulkhead plumb to the water line? It makes the construction of the cockpit easier, but looks a little abrupt.  Is the cockpit side at the right height??  It is the 50mm below the line of the cabin top to allow for stronger construction.  Is that the right allowance??

Well, its all to late to worry now.  For better or worse this is what we now have.

Port side of the aft cabin glued on

The starboard side still needs to be glued on

From the inside, it needs a lid

The big hole in the back of the boat is not quite so big now.  Once we get the lid on the aft cabin there will only be the cockpit hole to fill.

I’ve been waiting for something to happen
For a week or a month or a year
With the blood in the ink of the headlines
And the sound of the crowd in my ear

You might ask what it takes to remember
When you know that you’ve seen it before
Where a government lies to a people
And a country is drifting to war

And there’s a shadow on the faces
Of the men who send the guns
To the wars that are fought in places
Where their business interest runs

The big hole is starting to fill up

At least the aft cabin follows the line of the boat reasonably well.  By the time it is all faired up it will be hard to spot where the old stops and the new begins.

On the radio talk shows and the t.v.
You hear one thing again and again
How the u.s.a. stands for freedom
And we come to the aid of a friend

But who are the ones that we call our friends–
These governments killing their own?
Or the people who finally can’t take any more
And they pick up a gun or a brick or a stone

The new construction follows the line of the cabin OK

They sell us the president the same way
They sell us our clothes and our cars

They sell us every thing from youth to religion
The same time they sell us our wars

I want to know who the men in the shadows are
I want to hear somebody asking them why
They can be counted on to tell us who our enemies are
But they’re never the ones to fight or to die   [sc_embed_player  FileUrl=”http://pipi.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Jackson-Browne-Lives-in-the-Balance.mp3″]
