Its about a boat
Sailing Vessel PIPI is a Compass 47 yacht that has been completely re-constructed, excluding the hull itself.
The boat was built in South Africa in about 1980 to a design by Angelo Lavranos. It is what is known as a performance cruising yacht with a 3/4 keel and a skeg hung rudder.
The hull is built out of 5 laminations of mahogany planking. Each plank is about 6mm thick and 150mm wide, so the total thickness of the hull is about 30mm,
The decks are plywood over laminated mahogany frames. The deck frames are 5 laminations of 10mm by 50mm mahogany, and the ply is 12mm marine grade.
The whole hull and deck is sheathed in dynal and coated with expoy paint.
