I wish we were here

Everyone knows boats take a long time to build.  This one probably took a bit longer than most.   I first saw it upside down in a shed in the middle of a paddock in the late 1970’s.

Now it is finally in the water.  I am envious.  Not about the time it took to make the boat, but because it is in the water and nearly ready to go.

Wish we were here.

So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

Teak decks make a boat look nice

And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

Its really a motor – sail boat. It is nice and roomy, but I prefer to sail than motor.

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We’re just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here.
