Say goodbye

My first boat rebuild was another life time ago.  It was a lovely 18′ carvel built open motor launch.  When I bought it a lot of the ribs were broken and the deck was rotted out.

We steam bent a whole new set of ribs, rebuilt the deck, caulked all the seams, rebuilt the old motor and finally launched the boat after about a year of solid work.

For a few of years we ran around the local lakes and rivers, but finally work, children and other interests took over the the old boat was put into storage in our shed.

Finally after about 25 years we hauled it out and sold it.  It was time to let go, we need to clear out a lot of old memories before we can embark on our voyage next year.

The new owner has plans to strip it back to the original timber and clear finish it.

Here is the old boat. Still got a bit of life left in her I think.
